For the last few months, I’ve had the honor of filming Jeffrey Schwarz’s new documentary about Vito Russo: gay rights pioneer, AIDS activist, founder of GLAAD and author of the groundbreaking book The Celluloid Closet, which has become the definitive resource chronicling how gays and lesbians have been portrayed in films since the first motion pictures. The feature documentary is currently being edited and will be hitting the festival circuit in 2010. Below are stills selected from the 50+ interviews we have conducted so far.
